Links to other Maxis focused websites
Back in 1999 this page linked to a bunch of active Maxis and/or Sim
game websites; however, most of those sites have evaporated. While
restoring this website in 2019, I sorted out the working/broken links
and added several new ones when applicable. For dead websites, I
attempted to find them on archive.org or
oocites.org (a Geocities archive site), but
this wasn't always successful. In this situation, I've simply posted the
URL in plain text below.
Active Sites
- PatCoston.com focuses on
SimCity and SimTower. This site has one of the most impressive
list of SimCity 2000 downloads I've seen since 1999.
- SimPage.net this site stopped
receiving updates in 2006, but has been kept online ever since.
They feature SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000, and SimCity 4 content.
- The Best of Streets of SimCity
A satirical website pointing out the "best part of Streets of Sim City".
Sites on oocities (GeoCities archive)
- Sim Games Center
is a classic 1990s era Sim-games website with content on almost all of
Maxis' games of the time. Much like me, kwong92@hotmail.com hosted their
downloads on a separate server which, unfortunately, wasn't crawled by
archive.org. As such, much of their content is lost
- THE SOJOT COLLECTION
is perhaps the most unique Sim-focused website I've encountered. The author,
Lee Sojot, created a plethora of SimCity 2000 tile sets corresponding
to real buildings. Defintely check this one out. Amazingly, all of the
tile sets were preserved. Definitely check this one out.
- Game Castle
is a website created by an unnamed author. They have a variety of content
and downloads for SimCity 2000 and SimCity 3000
Sites on Archive.org
- Josh's Sim Stuff was one of the larger Maxis game focused websites
of the 1990s. It focused on modern Sim Games, like The Sims, The Sims Online,
and SimCity 4, but eventually included a few older games like Streets
- Mike Trekker's Streets of
SimCity website Mike was one of the most prodigious producers
of Streets of SimCity DLC. He made more than 30 car skins and several great
race tracks.
- SimGateway
created by Jon Aycan was one of the few syndicated sim-game websites. He
covered SimCity 2000/SKURK, Streets of SimCity, SimCopter, SimTower, SimIsle,
SimAnt, and SimFarm. He also made the SimCity 3000 gateway listed below.
And just for fun,
here
is the SimGateway website before it moved to gamestats.
- SC3000
Gateway is Jon Aycan's syndicated SimCity 3000 site. It focused exclusively
on SimCity 3000 and featured a bunch of downloads, videos, music, and theme
packs.
- Peter's Place by Peter Naughton was one of the earliest and largest Sim-gaming websites
on the Internet in the 1990s. He had content on SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000,
SimCopter, SimTower, SimCity SNES. The site eventually moved to
petersplace.cjb.net and then to www.pnaw10.com. Peter now
DJs in central New York state. His
SNES SimCity guide is still online
here
- SimEden was Adam Steinbaugh's website that focused on SimCity 3000, SimCity 4, TheSims,
and SimMars. It was one of the most visually appealing sites at the time.
- SimStuff
was a Maxis fan site and hosting service started by Josh van Hulst. His site
focused primarily on TheSims.
- Sim
World Online was a SimCity 3000 focused website by Sher Win. Sher also
made a few Streets of SimCity skins.
- SimCity Limits is a SimCity 2000/3000 focused website made
by Chris Tingom. There are several cities created by Chris and Jared Fox on
the website
- Streets of SimCity Rules to Survive By (SOSC RTSB)
was a joint effort between Peter Osorio, Brian Kloppenborg, and Joseph Sowards
to create the best Streets of SimCity website on the net. We hosted several
online tournaments and had a pretty robust downloads page.
- Sharpie's SimCopter Page an award winning Maxis Customer site that
is an authoritative source of information on SimCopter. Also check out the
Sharpie.net BBS on the game.
- Kevin's SimCopter Page is another fun
SimCopter page. It has a great series of hints and tips to help you get past
difficult levels.
- Jerry Moore's Sim Stuff Web Pages is a great website
for SimCity 2000 content. It also has one of the more robust link pages I've
seen.
- SimWeb a website that features every one of Maxis' games
from the 1990s. SimCity, SimCity 2000, SimTower, SimIsle, SimFarm, SimAnt,
SimGolf, SimLife, SimCopter, and Streets of SimCity, and SimCity 3000 are
all present. Most of the links go offsite for downloadable content though.
- Vertical Empire
an absolutely wonderful SimTower fan website with amazing graphics. Check
it out.
Dead Sites
- SimCite
was a fairly small Sim-focused website hosted on AngleFire. They had content
on SimCity, SimCopter, SimCity 3000, and the Sims. Unfortunately, the content
preserved on archive.org is almost non-existant.
